On a recent trip to France, I was thrilled to see so much colour in the shops. To have the opportunity to buy clothes in bright colours rather than the safe or neutral colours we so often see over here, was quite thrilling for me.
I have been reviewing other online stores and many of them have only pale or muted colours. You can almost guess the colouring of the buyer for these sights because they exclude half of the population.
That is what makes shopping at a Dress Agency so much fun. Although we carefully select our stock, it comes from many different sources and countries, so you will find things here, you won’t see at the shopping malls.
The smallest touch of colour adds mood and personality to an outfit and represents a freedom from the safe colours we are drawn towards. I once had a turquoise handbag that I wore out because it seemed to go with nearly everything in my wardrobe. It added a fabulous splash of colour on a dull day and looked equally as good with my summer clothes.
We Brits often go for the safe option of pale or neutral colours, believing that they will go with more items in our wardrobes. This isn’t necessarily so. If you keep the colours in the same warm or cool spectrum, you will be surprised how well they go together. Believe me, you won’t look like Joseph & his amazing technicolour dreamcoat!
It is important however, to ensure that you are wearing the clothes, not the other way around. Pick clothes that suit your personality and you are comfortable wearing. We are always happy to offer you honest advice when you shop at Brockhurst Boutique. Come and experiment with our colour!
