Make your fashion more sustainable by buying your fashion second hand
IF ONE MILLION WOMEN BOUGHT THEIR NEXT ITEM OF CLOTHING SECOND HAND, INSTEAD OF NEW, WE WOULD SAVE 6 MILLION KGS OF CARBON POLLUTION FROM ENTERING THE ATMOSPHERE!
That startling statement was on the 1 Million Women website. It is quite an eye opener, isn’t it?The recent BBC Blue Planet series, plus Drowning In Plastic, have highlighted the environmental problems our oceans are facing. It made me want to be more conscientious about reducing my carbon footprint.
Re-use, re-use and re-use again, then finally, recycle is my new mantra. So, I am proud that my dress agency helps to make a difference. Buying and selling second hand clothes, moves away from this throw away society we have become. It gives someone else the opportunity to make use of those thing we no longer want and in the process, reduces our carbon emissions. This can also be said for furniture, mobiles and most other items.
Next time you feel like some retail therapy, browse around a dress agency. You will also be supporting small businesses while the high street continues to suffer. Also, by selling your pieces through us, you get a commission which you might choose to donate to charity.
We will continue to offer reusable paper bags and to recycle bags and hangers when returning unsold items, while looking for more ways to reduce our environmental footprint. We also welcome your suggestions.
Happy shopping – in more ways than one – by buying lovely clothes at reasonable prices whilst making our planet more sustainable.
